The Vietnam issue divided the United States

When America went into the Vietnam War many Americans supported the military effort. But the more the war dragged on public support began to drop. There was suspicion of the government's truthfulness about the war.
People began to organize teach-ins and protests. The teach-ins were to discuss the issues surrounding the war and to reaffirmed their reasons to oppose it. There were many protests against the war. One of the protests was the burning of the draft cards in front of the Pentagon.
Beside the antiwar protesters there were prowar protesters. One of the protests done by the prowar people was when construction workers marched in New York City in support of the war.
